Overview
Follow these instructions to complete a password reset.
Issue
What you need to have/Prerequisite: You should have already setup a method for completing a password reset (Authenticator, phone number, etc.)
To reset your password, please follow the instructions below:
Access the Self-service Password Reset page https://passwordreset.microsoftonline.com/
Once at the password reset page, enter your S# email address in the Username field, and enter the characters displayed in the picture. Click Next.

At the Verification Step, choose a method for verification. Then, complete the verification prompts. An example of completing the verification using text messaging can be found in the following screenshots.


Alternatively, you can use your Microsoft Authenticator app to complete the verification.

After completing the verification step, you will be directed to enter a new password. Once you have entered a new password, click the Finish button.

Congratulations! Your password has been reset.

Troubleshooting
If you encounter an error that the password does not meet certain criteria, please ensure you use the following password criteria to create the new password:
1. Must be a minimum of 16 characters including complex characters. Using a pass phrase makes this easier to achieve. Simply create a phrase that will be easy for you to remember and is 16 or more characters.
2. It must include complex characters as follows:
- Use at least 1 character from 3 of the 4 following categories: Upper case, Lower case, Numbers (0-9), Symbols.
- The following are acceptable symbols: @ # $ % ^ - _ ! + = [ ] { } | \ : ‘ , . ? / ` ~ “ ( ) ; < > or a blank space
3. Cannot use one of your last 24 passwords
